Rey Mysterio Believes Cain Velasquez Will Be One Of The Greats In The Ring
Cain Velasquez has had just one televised match in WWE and only four matches overall, but Rey Mysterio already sees great things from him.
Speaking to BT Sport, Mysterio praised the work ethic and skill of Velasquez, believing he’s going to be one of the best to step in the ring once he gets more comfortable.
“He’s another guy that, I think he’s going to shock the world when he takes this on full-time,” said Rey. “He’s been away for a minute, but once he steps foot back in the ring, he loves that Lucha Libre style. He’s very agile for his size. I think he’s going to be a great one in the ring. I can’t wait to see that full transition. Right now, we’ve just seen teasers. Once he sets his mind and he wants to do something, he doesn’t stop until he accomplishes it.”
Rey continued, “He claims he’s been a wrestling fan since he was a kid. He grew up not too far from San Diego, across the border from Arizona. He grew up watching Lucha Libre. We talked about Mexican legends like El Santo and Blue Demon. That was the first style of wrestling that he saw. It stuck with him, and still, to this day, I saw the show he was wearing a mask and doing Lucha moves. ‘Really, is that Cain?’ He’s incredible. I can’t wait for him to take his position how he wants to take it and dominate the sport. Like he did in MMA.”
Cain battled Brock Lesnar at WWE Crown Jewel 2019, losing in three minutes. He wrestled at live event on Nov. 30, teaming with Humberto Carrillo to defeat The OC. It is unknown when he will return to the ring. He said he would be competing in the Royal Rumble match, but that did not happen.
