Reports On Future Plans For Edge After Return

After months of denials, Edge officially returned to the ring at WWE Royal Rumble as a surprise entrant. Edge entered the Rumble at number 21 and eliminated AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, and Randy Orton, making the final three before being eliminated by Roman Reigns.

According to a report by WrestleVotes, Edge signed a new three-year deal with WWE for what is said to be “significant money.” PWInsider reported in December that Edge signed a new deal that included a “pretty nice upside.” WWE has not confirmed Edge’s new contract or any terms of the contract.

Bill Pritchard at WrestleZone reports Edge had talks with All Elite Wrestling, but it’s unclear how serious the talks were. Edge was reportedly cleared by an independent doctor, leading to AEW interest. It is unclear if WWE knew about the AEW talks, but Vince McMahon reportedly told Edge if he were going to return, it would be in WWE, leading to Edge eventually getting cleared by a WWE doctor.

Finally, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reports that Edge will face Randy Orton at WrestleMania 36. The former Tag Team Champions reunited in the Royal Rumble before Edge, wise to Orton’s tricks, tossed him from the match.

Edge was moved to the active superstars page on WWE.com. But has not yet been assigned a brand by WWE.
