Report: WWE SummerSlam Taking Place At Amway Center In Orlando
SummerSlam might just be taking place in a venue that isn’t the WWE Performance Center after all.
According to Jon Alba, SummerSlam later this month will take place at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. EWrestlingNews was first to report on SummerSlam taking place at the Amway Center. Previously, @WrestleVotes on Twitter also hinted at a change in location for SummerSlam outside of the Performance Center. Fightful has also reached out to WWE regarding the matter.
While the arena has not confirmed publicly yet, multiple sources tell me #WWE will in fact hold #SummerSlam at Amway Center in Orlando, with load-in starting as early as tomorrow. @WrestleVotes was first to hint at it. To my knowledge, Amway’s first major event since COVID. https://t.co/rLXPE3WbuT

This would be the last time an entire WWE pay-per-view takes place outside of the WWE Performance Center or Full Sail University since Elimination Chamber back in March. There have been matches that took place outside of those two venues in recent months, but not an entire show.
The last time the Amway Center was used for a WWE event was back in July 2019 for a live event and the last televised show there was in January 2019. The venue also was the home of the 2016 Royal Rumble and 2017’s NXT TakeOver: Orlando.
This year’s SummerSlam will take place on August 23 and feature a number of title matches, including Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton for the WWE Championship, Braun Strowman vs. Bray Wyatt for the Universal Championship, Sasha Banks vs. Asuka for the Raw Women’s Championship and more.
