Report: WWE Residency At Tropicana Field Ends April 2

WWE is set to exit the ThunderDome two days into April.

Jon Alba of Spectrum Sports 360 reports WWE’s residency at Tropicana Field will end on April 2. Tropicana Field is the home of the Tampa Bay Rays. Their regular season begins at home on April 9.

Fightful Select reported on March 19 that the plan was to tape the April 9 episode of WWE SmackDown, which is the go-home show for WrestleMania 37, before the April 2 episode of SmackDown. The April 2 WWE SmackDown is slated to be live.

Alba notes that the April 2 date is a “hard out” for WWE at Tropicana Field.

It was previously reported that WWE is expected to set up shop at the Yuengling Center on the campus of the University of South Florida. it is unknown how long they will occupy residency at the Yuengling Center. It is also unknown if WWE will maintain the ThunderDome set-up or if the venue will be open to fans.

WWE has not officially confirmed plans for moving the ThunderDome outside of Tropicana Field. The company will hold its two-night WrestleMania 37 event at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL on April 10 and 11.
