Report: WWE ‘India Special’ Set To Film On January 22

More information has been revealed regarding the potential launch of NXT India.

According to John Pollock of POST Wrestling, the filming date for the potential new brand is scheduled for Friday, January 22. The listing is titled “India Special.” Filming will be done in Florida.

The report also notes that there was a photoshoot for the Indian talent this week to take updated photos.

While full details have not been reported, Pollock states that multiple people expect the program to be a new series with one person indicating that a one or two-night tournament could be used to start the series.

Pollock does warn in his report, “We were cautioned that this has been a long-term project where plans have evolved and shifted many times, with possibly more changes before the roll-out.”

The series will reportedly air on linear television in India along with a digital window through WWE Network.

Sportskeeda previously reported the potential launch date for the brand would be on January 26, the day that India celebrates Republic Day.

During the WWE third-quarter financials call in October, WWE President & Chief Revenue Officer Nick Khan announced WWE would be partnering with Sony in India to bring fans an event that would primarily feature the development of Indian superstars.

Later in the call, Khan said they want to make sure they have the right talent for the event and that the cost structure will resonate for WWE and Sony business. He also said there will be more events if it makes sense for all parties involved.

Fightful will continue to update fans on the status of NXT India as more is known.
