REPORT: WWE Considering Bringing Back Mauro Ranallo
So apparently, even after everything that's gone on, the WWE is considering bringing back Mauro Ranallo.
Yes, really.
According to a report in The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, despite Mauro's statement that he and WWE had mutually agreed to part ways, the possibility still exist that the company might ask him to return.
Yes, really.
The WON report claims that there have been already been some internal discussions about bringing Ranallo back, but those talks were apparently not serious at this time.
To give you a refresher:
Mauro missed the March 14th SmackDown, citing a winter storm as the reason he couldn't make it to Pittsburgh. Some announcers said he should have been there, regardless.
It came out that Mauro, who is bi-polar, missed the show because of a bout with depression, possibly brought on by the treatment he received at the hands of his broadcast partner, noted WWE bully JBL.
He basically admitted, via Twitter, that he was going to miss WrestleMania.
The week following WrestleMania, it was basically assumed that he was not going to be returning to the company.
Reports came out soon thereafter that WWE was working on a settlement agreement, which would include a gag-order.
Last weekend, Mauro told Newsweek: “WWE and I have mutually agreed to part ways. It has nothing to do with JBL.”
Reports came out this week that Vince McMahon originally signed Mauro with the idea that his unique style would give SmackDown a fresh identity. But Vince McMahon soon soured on Mauro, thinking him "weird", and that's when the mistreatment of him began backstage, leading to his leaving the company.
But now, apparently, they're thinking of bringing him back.
