Report: WWE Moves Backlash Event To June 23
**UPDATE**
Dave Meltzer is now reporting that WWE has moved the Backlash event to June 23 in Tacoma, Washington. Furthermore, the June 7 show in Salt Lake and the June 8 show in Denver have been pushed back a week as well.
**ORIGINAL**
WWE makes a big change to their schedule.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, WWE has canceled Backlash on June 16. The event was originally scheduled to take place in San Diego. Meltzer reports “the presumption is that it’s being pulled because of the June 7 show in Saudi Arabia, which hasn’t been announced, but that is the date scheduled.”
WWE has a full weekend on June 7 – 9. Triple H recently confirmed that NXT TakeOver: San Jose will take place on June 8 and it will be a standalone event, meaning there won’t be a WWE pay-per-view event that same weekend in the same town. WWE also has shows scheduled on June 7 in Salt Lake City, June 8 in Denver and Boise, and June 9 in Oakland and Fresno.
WWE’s return to Saudi Arabia was originally scheduled to be on May 3 before reportedly being pushed back a month.
WWE has not confirmed the date of the next Saudi Arabia show. There is also no word on whether or not the Backlash event will be re-scheduled.
