Report: World Champion Tessa Blanchard Not Present At Most Recent Set Of IMPACT Wrestling Tapings
IMPACT Wrestling’s next set of shows may be without a very important piece of their puzzle.
According to a report by Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, IMPACT Wrestling World Champion Tessa Blanchard was not present at the most recent set of tapings that occurred in a closed set with no audience.
This set of tapings holds the Rebellion card which was originally supposed to be on Pay-per-view April 19, but will now be a two-part TV special airing across April 21 and April 28.
On this card, Tessa Blanchard was scheduled to defend her championship in a Triple Threat against Michael Elgin and Eddie Edwards. According to the report, Tessa not being a part of the tapings was her own decision and not one that the company imposed due to safety precautions.
It is also said in the report that the Tag Team Champions Ethan Page and Josh Alexander were also not a part of the tapings but that it is due to travel issues as both are from Canada.
Reportedly, IMPACT filmed twelve weeks’ worth of television which could potentially take them through July without the promotion’s World or Tag Team Champions present.
Fightful will continue to report any and all updates to this situation as they are made available.
WWE was recently faced with a similar task of finding a workaround for their Cruiserweight division as Cruiserweight Champion Jordan Devlin is currently in the United Kingdom and unable to travel. WWE decided to hold a tournament to crown an interim champion. Learn about the participants in that tournament by clicking here.
