Report: Vince McMahon Expects To Spend Nearly $500 Million In The XFL’s First Three Seasons
A crazy amount of money said to be spent by Vince McMahon .
In January of this year during a broadcasted media conference, the Chairman of WWE Vince McMahon announced that he will be relaunching the XFL football league in 2020. The original XFL was kick-started in 2001 and was only up and running for one season. McMahon stated the following when sharing the news about the relaunching of the league during the conference in January:
“The new XFL will kick off in 2020 and quite frankly, we’re going to give the game of football back to fans,” McMahon said. “It’s still football, but it’s football re-imagined.”
It was also recently announced that the father of Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck, Oliver was appointed to CEO and commissioner of the XFL football league.
Today, ESPN published an article which noted that Vince McMahon has informed “insiders” that he expects to spend nearly $500 million during the first three seasons of the XFL. Oliver Luck was interviewed by ESPN and stated that people were so focused on the $100 million in stock that Vince McMahon removed from WWE and placed into Alpha Entertainment, but that $100 million does not do much for the league in terms of funding it according to Luck.
“People were focused on the $100 million, but the truth is that doesn’t even get us to the 20-yard line,” Luck said.
Oliver Luck also discussed the other costs that has to be factored into the situation including covering player injuries and establishing an insurance policy for the league. To read the full interview, click here.
