Report: Tampa, Florida Is One Of Eight Cities That Will Have An XFL Team
Tampa Bay is reportedly locked in.
WWE Chairman Vince McMahon announced in January of this year that he was going to be relaunching the XFL which is his failed football league from the early 2000’s. McMahon stated that the league will kick-start in 2020 and there will be eight teams that will be a part of this league. McMahon is flanked by his business partner and XFL commissioner Oliver Luck and on Wednesday, according to a report from ‘Elite Sports NY’, McMahon and Luck are expected to be in attendance when the eight XFL teams are revealed at Metlife Stadium streaming live on the XFL website and on Twitter.
There have been plenty of rumblings as Wednesday nears closer about which teams will be a part of the league and the ‘Tampa Bay Times’ has released a report claiming that the city of Tampa is a lock for an XFL team.
The XFL is coming to the bay area in February 2020, the Tampa Bay Times has learned.
The league, backed by World Wrestling Entertainment chairman Vince McMahon, isn’t scheduled to make an official announcement about team locations until Wednesday, but phone numbers for each of the eight host cities temporarily appeared on XFL.com on Friday.
When the Times called the number for the Tampa Bay team, a league executive said the following in a recorded message:
“Hello, this XFL commissioner Oliver Luck. Thanks for calling XFL Tampa Bay. We’re excited to call Raymond James Stadium home when the league launches in 2020, and we appreciate your support.”
‘Raymond James Stadium’ is the home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and according to the report they will be sharing a home with the XFL’s Tampa Bay franchise.
When the announcement of the XFL teams is made on Wednesday, a detailed article will be published here on Fightful.
