Report: WWE Planning Major UK Event In Huge Stadium

WWE SummerSlam 2022 could be headed to the United Kingdom.

According to Alex McCarthy of TalkSPORT, SummerSlam 2022 taking place in the United Kingdom is “in the works.” McCarthy reports Cardiff’s Principality Stadium is the front-runner to hold the event. The venue can hold 74,500 people.

McCarthy goes on to report, “although it’s WWE’s preferred venue, nothing is final right now” and that even if the UK doesn’t host SummerSlam, it’s possible that WWE still runs a stadium show in the UK. Fightful has been told that many in WWE don’t expect the show to be Summerslam.

WWE has not held a stadium show in the UK since SummerSlam 1992 at Wembley Stadium. The company just finished a United Kingdom tour which featured superstars such as Drew McIntyre, Becky Lynch, and Bianca Belair.

Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp previously noted that “WWE is planning up to eight nights of stadium shows globally next year.” Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, and Money in the Bank are already locked in for stadium shows in 2022.

Fightful will continue to update fans on the location of SummerSlam 2022 and a potential UK stadium show as more is known.
