Report: Rush’s Deal With ROH Is For One-Year, Worth Approximately $155,000; Andrade Warned Him About WWE
Details on Rush’s new exclusive deal with ROH.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reports that Rush’s deal with ROH is a one-year U.S./Ontario market deal worth approximately $155,000. The deal is on top of his CMLL contract, which is a five-year deal that expires at the end of 2020.
Meltzer reports that MLW was in deep negotiations to sign Rush but ultimately NJPW pushed CMLL owner Paco Alonso to have Rush sign with ROH. CMLL, ROH, and NJPW all have a working agreement with each other. MLW reportedly offered more money for less dates, were willing to use Rush’s brothers Dragon Lee and Mistico and were reportedly set to put the World Title on Rush. There was also a deal to have Rush be a soccer analyst for BeIn Sports.
MLW featured Rush on their Fusion Live special on Dec. 14 and had booked him to face LA Park during WrestleMania weekend in New York. MLW CEO Court Bauer reportedly tried to keep Rush through Apr. 4 and the match with LA Park but he was ultimately pulled from the event. Bauer is reportedly now wary of using CMLL talent in MLW moving forward, fearing CMLL could assign talent to ROH at any moment.
Meltzer goes on to report that Andrade (formerly Andrade “Cien” Almas) warned Rush and Dragon Lee about signing with WWE. Meltzer writes, “Andrade’s advice was that WWE wasn’t what it was cracked up to being”
Rush will become a free agent at the end of the year but any deal with a US promotion will have to be negotiated through Alonso and CMLL until his CMLL contract expires at the end of 2020.
