Report: ROH Offered Davey Boy Smith Jr A Contract Prior To MLW Fusion Live
New details emerge regarding the alleged “talent raid” prior to MLW’s live special on Dec. 14.
According to PWInsider, ROH tried to sign Davey Boy Smith Jr. the night before MLW Fusion Live. ROH officials have denied the claim.
Prior to MLW going live on beIN Sports on Dec. 14, MLW CEO Court Bauer claimed that ROH tried to raid the company of their talent. Bauer did not mention ROH by name, but his hashtag made it clear who he was talking about. Bauer did not mention any talent by name, just that they declined the offers.
2 attempted raids in 2 days as we head into tonight’s #MLWFusionLIVE on @beINSPORTSUSA. Wish we could all work together instead of of this trash.
PS: Both dudes declined. Now that’s what I call #honor. —

ROH was holding their Final Battle event on the same night and running head-to-head with MLW.
Smith Jr. recently signed a multi-year deal with MLW, though he will continue to compete in NJPW. Both ROH and MLW have been signing talent to contracts in recent weeks. MLW recently signed Teddy Hart, Brian Pillman Jr. and Gringo Loco. Meanwhile, ROH has locked up Bandido, Brody King and PCO.
