Report: Ric Flair’s WWE Contract Expires “Around The End Of 2019”

Ric Flair‘s contract with WWE is set to expire at the end of the year.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer first reported the news of Flair’s contract expiration. Some believed Flair had re-signed with WWE as his merchandise was recently pulled from Pro Wrestling Tees. However, that is not the case according to Meltzer, who reports, “It was his own team’s move regarding other businesses making offers to be able to carry Ric Flair [merchandise].”

Flair reportedly signed a new WWE deal in November 2016, though terms of the deal were not disclosed at the time.

Flair has made sporadic appearances on WWE television this year. He was involved in the angle that led to Batista’s final match at WrestleMania 35 against Triple H and returned to WWE television in the fall, assembling his team to battle Team Hogan at WWE Crown Jewel. Flair most recently appeared at WWE Starrcade as a special guest on the Kevin Owens Show.

Ric has also been in the headlines this year over “The Man” trademark. Flair filed for the trademark in August, but noted that he has no issue with Becky Lynch using the phrase.
