Report: Rey Mysterio Currently Working Without WWE Contract, Reportedly Turned Down For Raise

It appears that Rey Mysterio is working in WWE without a contract.

Although Rey Mysterio is currently involved in one of the top angles on Monday Night Raw, a new report from Dave Meltzer says that the former WWE Champion is working without a contract. Meltzer would later add that Mysterio asked for a raise from Vince McMahon, but McMahon reportedly told him it was a bad time.

Mysterio signed his most recent contract in September of 2018, shortly after working the All In event put on by Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks. In this most recent WWE run, he has had multiple runs with the WWE United States Championship, competed for the WWE Championship against Brock Lesnar at the 2019 Survivor Series, and continues to prepare his son, Dominik for a WWE career of his own.

In a 2019 interview with Kevin Kellam of WrestleZone, Mysterio revealed that he would not hang up the mask before performing with his son as a tag team in WWE.

“One of the main reasons is to be able to prepare my son to eventually step in the ring one day,” he said. “I want to have the opportunity to share the ring with him before I at least make an announcement to retire. I think that’s probably the last check on my bucket list, to be able to step in the ring with my son and be next to him when he’s feeling what I’m feeling for the last thirty years.”

Rey and Dominik are currently involved in a feud with Seth Rollins on Monday Night Raw which plays off of an eye injury angle as the dastardly Seth Rollins tried to blind the Lucha Libre legend.

Fightful will continue to monitor the story and report any and all updates.
