Report: NXT Abduction Angle Designed For Incoming Star

Recent kidnappings on NXT could be the sign of the arrival of a new star.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the kidnapping spots on NXT are to lead to the introduction of Jorge Bolly, the former El Hijo del Fantasma, who has been with NXT since late last year.

The angle is supposed to resemble the Symbionese Liberation Army where the captives sympathize with their captors and Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde, the two wrestlers who were kidnapped on recent episodes of NXT, become Bolly’s Patty Hearsts.

Bolly joined the WWE Performance Center last September but did not compete for the remainder of 2019 because he reportedly blew out his knee. Bolly, the former El Hijo del Fantasma who wrestled as King Cuerno in Lucha Underground, has only had a handful of matches since recovering from injury with his NXT debut taking place in February. Among the matches he has had, Bolly did team up with both Mendoza and Wilde on NXT live events and dark matches.

Wilde’s last match on television was on the April 1 episode of NXT while Mendoza’s last TV match was on the March 11 episode of NXT and both men suffered losses to Kushida in their respective matches.
