Report: MLW’s Chicago And Philadelphia Returns Will Be Postponed

Major League Wrestling is continuing to play it close to the vest when it comes to resuming traveling for events.

The global coronavirus pandemic changed everything in the world of wrestling. Many brands were forced into hiatus until they could figure out how to safely run events once again.

One such brand is Major League Wrestling. MLW took the majority of 2020 to reassess how they would run events in the midst of a pandemic. Eventually, the promotion resumed filming in the fall of 2020, from a secure location without an audience in Orlando, Florida.

Still, Major League Wrestling has dates to travel to popular cities such as Chicago and New York. As it pertains to New York, it has already been reported that the promotion is watching Broadway closely to decide when they will be able to run safely again.

Now, a new report states that a Major League return to Chicago and Pennsylvania are also off the table for the time being.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that MLW’s announced dates in Philadelphia and Chicago will be pushed back again in favor of empty arena tapings.  Reportedly, MLW is going out of its way to not promote tapings because they do not want fans showing up at their closed set while COVID protocols are still in place.

Reportedly, MLW is also looking at Broadway as a way to determine when they will be able to return to other cities as well.

In the meantime, MLW has continued to grow its reach through new deals with partners such as the streaming service, DAZN. Reportedly, the promotion is working on the logistics of hosting future programming specifically on the streaming service.

According to reports, the partnership with DAZN has allowed wrestlers to receive increases in pay. Learn more at this link.
