REPORT: Matt and Jeff Hardy Offered WWE Contracts
The return of the Hardys to the WWE could be coming much sooner than later.
According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, Matt and Jeff Hardy have been offered contracts to return the the professional wrestling company they began with 20 years ago. This follows up the previous report that the two sides had begun contract talks.
It has been eight years since Jeff wrestled for WWE while Matt has been out of the company since 2010.
The Hardys became free agents after contract talks with Impact Wrestling fell through due to what the brothers believed to be disrespect during negotiations.
Since leaving Impact, the Hardys have become Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions, and have even signed a short-term contract with the company. The brothers recently competed at the company's 15th Anniversary show in Las Vegas, and will be defending their titles in Lakeland, Florida during WrestleMania weekend at ROH's Supercard of Honor XI.
Outside of the ring, Matt Hardy is currently in a legal dispute with Impact surrounding his "Broken" gimmick that became one of the biggest characters in wrestling in 2016. Impact wants to be paid for the use of the gimmick outside Impact, but Matt is of the belief that he owns the gimmick and should be free to use it as he sees fit.
There is no word as to whether the "Broken Hardys" will make their way to Meekmahan's company, or if fans would see the Hardys of old. Nevertheless, it appears more likely than not that the Hardys are heading back to the WWE.
It is unknown if Reby Hardy would be joining the brothers in WWE.
