AEW held its first House Rules live event from the Hobart Arena in Troy, Ohio, on March 18. The show kicked off a series of non-televised live shows for AEW. Previously, the company had only held the House Always Wins live event in April 2021.
Wrestlenomics reports that they filed a public records request to the city of Troy, Ohio, for information about AEW’s House Rules live event on March 18 at the city-operated Hobart Arena. With this request, Wrestlenomics gained information about the show; the gross ticket revenue was $99,675, with 2,929 in paid ticket sales at an average price of $34. The show had a total ticket scan count of 2,773. AEW made $17,944 off their cut of the merchandise sales, with the gross merchandise sales totaling $24,640.
The report notes that some of the general admission tickets were as low as $20, and this may have been impacted the ticket revenue. Some of AEW’s highest-grossing pay-per-view events, including AEW Full Gear 2022, have surpassed $1 million.
Wrestlenomics also noted that they did not obtain information regarding expenses involved with the event, including the costs of renting the venue and paying the talent, so it’s unclear whether the House Rules show as profitable for AEW.
