Report: Hornswoggle Was Supposed To Compete In Singles Action At The ‘Greatest Royal Rumble’
The original plans for Hornswoggle were nixed.
The 50-man Royal Rumble match at the 'Greatest Royal Rumble' event was one that provided many surprises and moments. One of those moments came in the form of former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Hornswoggle. Hornswoggle skipped his way down the entrance ramp and immediately got involved in the action as he assisted in eliminating Dash Wilder of 'The Revival' from the match. Hornswoggle would soon be eliminated himself by Tony Nese who represents 205 Live and prior to the reincarnation of today's WWE Cruiserweight Championship, Hornswoggle was the last official holder of the title.
According to a report by way of PWInsider, Hornswoggle was supposed to have the spotlight in singles action at the event on the kickoff show against fellow miniature wrestler Robbie Araujo who worked for WWE in the past as "WeeBL". The site notes that at some point during the day the decision was made to put Hornswoggle in the Rumble match which left Araujo without a match so he was flown out to Saudi Arabia and did not wrestle.
