A new report provides an update on El Hijo del Vikingo.

On August 12, Vikingo successfully defended the AAA Mega Championship at AAA TripleMania 31 CDMX; he defeated Daga, Jack Cartwheel, and Mike Bailey to retain the gold. After the match, Vikingo fainted backstage, and he was taken out on a stretcher. He was subsequently active on social media, as he shared clips of AAA TripleMania 31 CDMX on Sunday.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that no one they’ve spoken to has stated that the stretcher was part of a sell job or a work. Johnson wrote that Vikingo was legitimately not feeling well ahead of the match, and he wound up being dehydrated. Plus, he didn’t eat enough. However, sources stated that Vikingo is fine, and he is not expected to miss any upcoming dates.

According to his Instagram, Vikingo attended a concert on Sunday, August 13.

Vikingo has been featured on AEW and ROH programming several times in recent months. He recently teamed up with Komander and unsuccessfully challenged Aussie Open (Mark Davis and Kyle Fletcher) for the ROH World Tag Team Championship on the August 2 episode of AEW Dynamite.

Fightful will continue to monitor the situation and provide more information as it becomes available.
