Report: Heath Suffering An Injury Forced A Change To Finish Of The ‘Call Your Shot’ Gauntlet
Heath suffering an injury at Bound For Glory did more than potentially put him on the shelf, it forced a change to the ending of the match that he participated in.
Going into IMPACT Wrestling Bound For Glory 2020, Heath had been attempting to negotiate a deal to officially join the promotion for months on TV. At Bound For Glory, Heath participated in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet which allows the winner to challenge for any IMPACT Wrestling Championship they want at any time they choose. The match would be won by Heath’s friend Rhino and due to the stipulations set forth prior to the event, Heath officially won a contract by virtue of his friend’s victory.
After the match, it was revealed by Heath on social media that he had suffered an injury. Now, a new report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider notes that his injury changed the ending to the match because the former Heath Slater was actually supposed to be victorious in the gauntlet. Reportedly, Heath was slated to defeat Sami Callihan to win the match and earn an IMPACT Wrestling contract.
It was also reported by PWInsider that while the injury was initially believed to be a knee injury, it is now being looked at as a potential groin or abdomen injury.
Fightful will continue to monitor the story and report any and all updates. If you miss any of Bound For Glory 2020, you can check out our full coverage at this link.
