Report: GM Mode To Return In WWE 2K22

After well over a decade of fans clamoring for the mode to return, a new report says the WWE 2K22 will bring back the fan-favorite GM Mode.

A new report from Mike Straw of Sports Gamers Online reveals GM Mode will finally return after a 15-year absence in WWE 2K22.

“It was a top priority,” one source reportedly said. “The fans clearly wanted it, and the team knew that they had the ammo to get it approved and in.”

The game mode, which sees players assume control of a WWE brand and make booking and financial decisions to try and establish their brand as the dominant WWE program, has not been featured in a game since 2007. WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 had a mode that unified season mode and GM mode called WWE 24/7 mode. In that game, players had to choose which single-player game mode they preferred and could only focus on one mode at a time.

GM Mode made its debut two years earlier in WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2006 and had slight adjustments added in the follow-up game. While the mode had always been a fan-favorite, it reached new levels of popularity thanks to Xavier Woods and Tyler Breeze playing the mode on UpUpDownDown.

According to the report, one source states that this mode will “sell the game.” While another source stated that this mode would “become the most played mode in the game.”

As of yet, there is no official confirmation of this mode in the upcoming game but 2K Games has promised more information about the upcoming video game starting in January with the game set to release in March 2022 as WWE is on The Road to WrestleMania 38. Learn more here.
