Report: David Otunga Might Not Return As RAW Commentator After Filming Movie
David Otunga has been off the RAW commentary desk while filming a movie, but it looks like he may be out of commentary for good.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Otunga had a day off from filming the movie "Katrina," a film about the 2005 hurricane that ravaged New Orleans, to participate in the Extreme Rules Kickoff show. Otunga will be playing the role of DEA agent James "World" Lawson.
Otunga is still filming the movie, which means he will still be away from the Monday Night RAW commentary team for a few more shows. The report indicates that WWE is deciding whether or not to retain Otunga on the RAW commentary team or keep Booker T, who has been handling commentary duties in Otunga's absence. Meltzer said WWE acknowledged that Booker T has done a better job on RAW than Otunga has on commentary.
Otunga started commentary duties earlier this year but started on SmackDown Live. He was switched to RAW during the Superstar Shake-up back in April. For now, Booker T will be on RAW at least for the rest of the summer.
Booker T has been on commentary for WWE numerous times since 2011. Before temporarily replacing Otunga on commentary, Booker T had been serving as a pre-show panelist for WWE pay-per-views.
