Report: Charlotte Flair Undergoing Surgery, Conflicting Reports On When She’ll Return
Charlotte Flair is reportedly legitimately injured.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Flair is set to undergo surgery, which is why WWE shot an injury angle on WWE Raw. Meltzer did not specify the reason for Charlotte’s surgery but noted that it’s not a shoulder injury. Mike Johnson at PWInsider reports Flair is undergoing elective surgery and is not injured or sick.
In WWE’s storyline update on Charlotte, the company stated that she is being evaluated for an injury, and “it is believed she may have suffered a potential collarbone fracture.”
Meltzer reports that there is hope for Charlotte to return at SummerSlam in August, but it’s not 100% that will be the case. Johnson reports she is expected to take six weeks off television.
Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT reports there is “0 percent chance Charlotte returns for SummerSlam,” and that Charlotte is taking an extended break from WWE with the idea that she will return around the Royal Rumble. McCarthy goes on to report that she would be open to a return at Survivor Series “if a good story pops up.”
Charlotte wrestled on Monday Night Raw, challenging Asuka for the Raw Women’s Champion. Asuka forced “The Queen” to tap out to the Asuka lock. Before the match, Nia Jax softened up Charlotte’s shoulder with an attack. After the match, Jax once again attacked Charlotte in the training area of the Performance Center, going after her previously injured arm.
