Report: Charlotte Flair Has Until January 18, 2019 To Respond To Lawsuit Filed By Ex-Husband Riki Paul Johnson
An update on the situation.
In the book “Second Nature: The Legacy of Ric Flair and The Rise Of Charlotte” that was put together by WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair, former 8-time WWE Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair and Brian Shields featured both father and daughter opening up their thoughts about their personal lives, situations they’ve been through and how they’ve been able to persevere not only as individuals but as a family. During a portion of this book, Charlotte opened up about her past marriage with Riki Paul Johnson. Charlotte mentioned how she turned down a D1 scholarship offer to play volleyball for Johnson and the following excerpt is from the book:
“Riki started swinging at me like we were in a street fight. Over his screams, I could hear his fists hit my arms. I managed to block most of the punches, but one shot got me in the ribs. I began to gasp for air, but he didn’t stop […] Riki punched me right in the head. …I think about that girl now, and it brings tears to my eyes. How did I get there? Why was this going on? Why wasn’t I strong enough, brave enough, to end this?”
Johnson has since went on to sue Charlotte, Ric, WWE and the author of the book Brian Shields for damages such as defamation of his character. PWInsider has provided an update on the situation and the site noted that the Flair’s, WWE and Brian Shields were granted a motion on November 29th and they now have until January 18th of 2019 to respond to Johnson’s lawsuit unless he decides to file an amended lawsuit which would reset the clock on their response time.
It was also claimed in the book that Riki Paul Johnson lost jobs because of drug use and he was unable to have children along with the alleged physical and mental abuse. Riki Paul Johnson says that he can prove those remarks false with footage and police reports.
