Report: Big Match Won’t Happen At Backlash

It appears as if a thin WWE Backlash card may have just sustained another blow.

According to PWInsider, former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton will not actually be competing at tonight’s WWE Backlash pay-per-view. Orton was split open by a Brock Lesnar elbow at last month’s Summerslam, and hasn’t competed since. Orton required ten staples to close the wound. Fightful has been unable to confirm this information.

While Randy Orton is backstage at the event, it’s currently unknown as to how the WWE plans on handling his scheduled match with Bray Wyatt. Wyatt was left off of the WWE Summerslam card, and hasn’t wrestled on TV for WWE since an early August loss to Dolph Ziggler.

Fightful.com will have full, live coverage of tonight’s WWE Backlash PPV, including a viewing party, live tweeting and a post-show podcast.
