Report: Andrade El Idolo Originally Planned For IMPACT Slammiversary Appearance
IMPACT Slammiversary ended in a big way as Jay White made a surprise appearance, engaging in a staredown with Kenny Omega and The Good Brothers.
White, who is a NJPW talent and the NEVER Openweight Champion, is a member of Bullet Club, which was formerly led by Omega before he left NJPW and joined AEW.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Omega “didn’t know about White being there before and what they were doing until he got to Nashville.”
Meltzer goes on to report that Andrade El Idolo was originally planned to be in that spot, but Andrade and IMPACT couldn’t come to financial terms on a deal. Meltzer reports that the plan was to have Omega & The Good Brothers face Andrade, who would be managed by Konnan, and two partners at the subsequent IMPACT tapings.
Andrade and Omega are set to face at AAA Triplemania XXIX on August with Omega’s AAA Mega Championship on the line.
Omega and Andrade both work for AEW. On Wednesday’s Dynamite, Andrade introduced Chavo Guerrero Jr as his new executive advisor.
