Report: Aleister Black Not Expected To Compete At NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4
Bad news for the main event of NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4. Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that former champion Aleister Black is not expected to be cleared following surgery stemming from a groin injury suffered at a live event. The report was first issued by WrestleVotes.
He was originally scheduled to compete in a triple threat match along with Johnny Gargano and champion Tommaso Ciampa. Black faces Gargano on tonight’s edition of NXT with the angle to setup the TakeOver triple threat already filmed.
Gargano vs. Ciampa 3 is the front runner to be the new main event for next Saturday’s TakeOver. The series between the two as enemies is currently tied 1-1. Gargano won their first bout at TakeOver: New Orleans back in April. Ciampa evened the series in a street fight at TakeOver: Chicago 2 in June.
With one more week of NXT television set to air before TakeOver, we should have more clarity on the main event in the next week.
Fightful will provide an official update on the TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 main event following the announcement on NXT television or by WWE. We’ll also have live coverage for the event next weekend.
