Report: AEW Double Or Nothing Closing In On 100,000 Worldwide PPV Buys

Very good news for All Elite Wrestling’s first pay-per-view showing.

AEW made their presence felt for the first time last Saturday at their Double Or Nothing pay-per-view event, which featured established names such as Jon Moxley, Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, Young, Bucks, Cody and more. It seems like it’s paid off based on early figures.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, current estimates put AEW Double or Nothing at 98,000 buys across television and digital platforms, with each getting about half of the buys. This is a significant shift in the favor of digital considering it usually only draws a small fraction of the buys. Meltzer goes on to say that about 66 percent of the buys came from the United States, followed by the United Kingdom. Australia, Germany and Canada would be in subsequent order.

If true, the figure would be a major success for All Elite Wrestling on the first event the company has ever produced, as the previous record-selling non-WWE/WCW pay-per-view — an ECW show — hit about 99,000 in the heyday of PPV.

Fightful will work to find out more about the pay-per-view figures. You can see our post-show wrap up above.
