Rene Dupree Talks NJPW vs. NOAH, Compares Will Ospreay To Paul London

NJPW and NOAH are set to clash on January 8 as part of night three of Wrestle Kingdom 16.

The show will be headlined by Shingo Takagi, Tetsuya Naito, SANADA, BUSHI & Hiromu Takahashi vs. Katsuhiko Nakajima, Kenoh, Manabu Soya, Tadasuke & ALEJA with Kazuchika Okada & Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Keiji Mutoh & Kaito Kiyomiya serving as the co-main event.

Rene Dupree says he would be part of the show if it weren’t for COVID restrictions.

“I’m with Pro Wrestling NOAH and they are about to start a feud with New Japan Pro Wrestling. An inter-promotional feud. If it wasn’t for the lockdowns, I’d be there right now,” he said when speaking to Chris Van Vliet on Insight.

Dupree last wrestled for NOAH in July 2020.

When asked who he’d like to work with from NJPW, Dupree said, “I’ve wrestled pretty much three-quarters of the roster already because I was in All Japan Pro Wrestling and was there with SANADA, BUSHI, Minoru Suzuki, Satoshi Kojima. I’ve wrestled those guys before. The guys I haven’t wrestled would be [Kazuchika] Okada, [Hiroshi] Tanahashi, [Tetsuya] Naito. No, (I haven’t worked Will Ospreay), I know exactly what I would do with him though. I’m not gong to divulge my secrets here, but I compare him to Paul London. I would have so much fun with those guys.”

Dupree currently hosts his own podcast, Cafe De Rene, which was the name of his short-lived talk show in WWE.

He last wrestled at RCW Hostile Fire in September.
