Ren Narita Set For ROH Pure Title Tournament, Miranda Alize On For ROH Women’s Title Tournament
Ring of Honor continues to add names to its upcoming title tournaments.
The latest name announced for the tournament to crown the first Ring of Honor Pure Champion in over a decade is Japanese star Ren Narita.
ROH PURE TITLE TOURNAMENT PARTICIPANT: REN NARITA
The tournament to crown the first Ring of Honor Pure Champion since 2006 begins at Pure Excellence on Friday, April 10 in Columbus and Saturday, April 11 in Pittsburgh. Sixteen entrants representing at least six countries will battle to put their names alongside Jay Lethal, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Nigel McGuinness, Bryan Danielson, and other ROH forefathers who fought by the Pure Rules. The rules gave a distinct flavor to each Pure Rules match: closed-fist punches were illegal and each competitor was allowed three rope breaks to stop submission holds and pinfalls during the match; after that, pinfalls and submission holds on or under the ropes would be legal.
The New Japan Dojo has produced some of the greatest wrestlers of all time, such as Jushin Thunder Liger, The Great Muta, Shinya Hashimoto, Tenzan, Kojima, Tanahashi, Shibata, and countless additional champions and legends, as well as current stars like current IWGP Heavyweight Champion Tetsuya Naito, former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Jay White, Roppongi 3K, Juice Robinson, David Finlay, and more.
An important part of their growth from Young Lion to international star is the concept of an excursion where these athletes leave Japan and travel to the United States, Mexico, and/or Europe. Following an emergency entry into the Best of Super Juniors and an impressive 5-2 record in the 2019 Young Lions’ Cup, Ren Narita appears to be on the fast track to joining the stars and legends that have earned their way onto the New Japan roster from its storied Dojo!
Narita will absolutely be the wild card in the tournament to crown the first Pure Champion in over a decade and in that way, it makes him the perfect dark horse candidate to surprise not only his first round opponent but any potential subsequent opponents! NJPW Dojo Young Lions have one of the best track records out of any group of prospects – will Narita see instant success in the Pure Championship Tournament?

In addition to that, Miranda Alize has been announced for the upcoming tournament to crown a new Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion, a championship that will replace the old Women of Honor title.
ROH WOMEN’S WORLD TITLE TOURNAMENT PARTICIPANT: MIRANDA ALIZE
Miranda Alize is one of the top competitors on the independent circuit in addition to being a viral sensation. Now “The Superstar” wants to be Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion.
Alize is one of 16 competitors in the tournament to crown a new women’s champion in ROH. The tournament kicks off with eight first-round matches at Quest For Gold in Philadelphia on April 24.
A seven-year pro, Alize trained under Hall of Famer Booker T and has wrestled extensively in Mexico and competed for Stardom in Japan. Alize has worked for a number of U.S. promotions, including Shimmer and Reality of Wrestling, participated in the first Mae Young Classic and competed in the UK.
Her victory over the controversial Joey Ryan in Beaumont, Texas last summer made headlines when a YouTube video of the intergender match garnered more than 3 million views in the first 24 hours. It is now at more than 12 million views.
Can Alize capture the imagination of wrestling fans again by winning the ROH Women’s World Title tournament?
