Raven Joins Buff Bagwell’s Lawsuit
Raven has joined the flock currently suing WWE.
According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the former ECW and WCW talent has aligned himself with Buff Bagwell in his lawsuit against the company. Bagwell claims he is owed royalties for his matches that are used on the WWE Network.
The last royalty check that Raven, real name Scott Levy, received was for the second quarter of 2016 and totaled $130.83, according to Wrestling Observer. Bagwell had received royalties from the Vengeance pay-per-view in 2002. He received royalties for the event, even though he wasn’t with the company then and did not appear on the show. Bagwell’s lawyers had additional questions on the matter, which were never addressed regarding his royalties. They deem WWE’s bookkeeping questionable, and claim they were not able to audit it.
The 46 year old, Marietta, Georgia native filed this lawsuit Aug. 9 against WWE in the U.S. District Court of Connecticut. The lawsuit claims the company bought out all future contractual obligations with Bagwell. However, that did not include royalties. While Bagwell’s WCW deal did not have a royalty clause, he believes he is owed royalties on footage involving Bagwell that airs on the WWE Network because the WWE contract he signed changed the existing terms.
Raven is a former WWF Hardcore Champion. He is also a former WCW Light Heavyweight Champion, United States Champion and World Tag Team Champion. Bagwell is also a former WCW World Tag Team Champion, having won the titles five times. Both Raven and Bagwell have spent time in WCW, WWF and TNA.
