Ratings Update: TNA Up, Lucha Underground Drops

TNA Impact ratings reached a peak for September, while Lucha Underground saw its numbers continue to decline.

Airing on Pop TV, Impact drew a total audience of 377,000, a slight increase over the 366,000 viewers for the September 15 episode. The most recent episode of Impact was highlighted by the tease that a new surprise member of the roster would be introduced. That reveal ended up being the introduction of Cody Rhodes. Impact also featured the semifinals of the tournament to crown TNA’s first-ever Grand Champion. TNA is building to Bound For Glory, its signature event of the year, which airs this coming Sunday on pay-per-view.

Impact has drawn at least 337,000 viewers for each episode thus far in the month of September.

Lucha Underground‘s ratings on the El Rey Network, meanwhile, have seen a significant drop since returning with new episodes. The third episode of Season 3 drew a total audience of 134,000 according to PWTorch.com. That’s down from 154,000 the week before and a drop of nearly 50 percent compared to the Season 3 premiere, which drew approximately 234,000 viewers. The most recent episode of Lucha Underground was headlined by a Trios Title match.

The initial airing of the most recent episode averaged 99,000 viewers, holding steady from last week, but the replay broadcast saw a 36 percent decrease, dropping to 35,000 from 55,000 viewers the week prior.

There’s a bit of bad blood between the two companies currently. Lucha Underground executive producer Eric Van Wagenen recently told Sports Illustrated he felt that TNA segments such as “The Final Deletion” were mocking the LU product.
