Here is your fight size update for WWE Friday Night SmackDown and AEW Rampage on Friday, August 25, 2023.

WWE SmackDown

– WWE United States Champion Rey Mysterio faced Grayson Waller. Austin Theory came out during the match, and Santos Escobar took the fight to him. Mysterio scored the win despite Theory’s attempted interference. WWE announced that Mysterio would defend the title against Theory at WWE Payback.

– The Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins) faced the Brawling Brutes (Ridge Holland and Butch) in a Terry Funk Hardcore Match. Bobby Lashley came out during the match. Butch accidentally bumped into him, and Lashley stared him down. Lashley then interfered and attacked Butch. The Street Profits slammed Holland through the table for the win.

– IYO SKY successfully defended the WWE Women’s Championship against Zelina Vega.

The roster stood on the stage in a moment of silence for Bray Wyatt and Terry Funk. A ten-bell salute honored both men.

– A video package highlighted the life and career of Bray Wyatt. 

– Erick Rowan and Braun Strowman appeared on-screen for the celebration of Bray Wyatt.

– A video package honored WWE Hall of Famer Terry Funk.

– Tributes for Bray Wyatt aired throughout the show. 

Cody Rhodes paid tribute to Terry Funk.

LA Knight came to the ring and addressed Bray Wyatt’s passing. He said sometimes your greatest foes can be your greatest helpers. Knight stated that his heart broke for Wyatt’s family. Knight said “thank you, Bray.” He also discussed his feud with The Miz and challenged the former WWE Champion to a match. WWE confirmed the bout for WWE Payback.

– LA Knight defeated Finn Balor.

– Bray Wyatt’s lantern was in the ring, and fans chanted “Thank you, Bray,” as SmackDown came to an end.

– Zelina Vega tweeted about how she paid tribute to Bray Wyatt; she painted his name on her shoulder.

– IYO SKY commented on her successful defense.

AEW Rampage

 

– Jim Ross interviewed QT Marshall, who discussed his recent success in AAA. He made it clear that it’s time he gets the respect he deserves.

– Orange Cassidy defended the AEW International Championship against Aaron Solo. Harley Cameron distracted Cassidy during the match. When the referee wasn’t looking, Solo blasted Cassidy with one of her shoes. In the end, Cassidy emerged victorious and retained.

– QT Marshall successfully defended the AAA Latin American Championship against Gravity.

– AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida and Britt Baker faced Toni Storm and Saraya. Kris Statlander came out and carried Ruby Soho to the back. Saraya pinned Baker to win the bout. Saraya and Storm somewhat argued as they both raised the AEW Women’s World Championship.

– A video package highlighted the match between CM Punk and Samoa Joe at AEW All In.

– Dark Order (Evil Uno, John Silver, and Alex Reynolds) discussed their new focus. Uno vowed to rebuild with like-minded people.

– TNT Champion Luchasaurus scored a dominant victory, and Christian Cage watched on backstage.
