Pete Dunne Feels That NXT UK Would Not Be Possible Without The Influence Of William Regal

WWE’s NXT UK brand is taking off and a few weeks back the brand wrapped up their first TakeOver show. Following the event, NXT UK founder and senior producer Triple H expressed that he was extremely proud of everyone who helped bring the event to the level of success that it reached and following up on those sentiments was the reigning WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne whose title reign has surpassed the 600-day mark.
Dunne made the rounds on the media circuit following NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool and one of the outlets he spoke with was ‘talkSPORT’. During the interview, Dunne praised Triple H and Shawn Michaels for the massive amounts of time that they pour into helping NXT UK grow into what it has become and Dunne also praised another man who he feels is responsible for NXT UK happening and that man is former two-time WWE Intercontinental Champion and British wrestling legend Willam Regal.
“And just because you mentioned his name, I feel like I have to mention him – none of this would be possible without William Regal.” Dunne insisted. “He hasn’t been around lately, but the reason all of this is happening and the reason you see people who are even on NXT in the U.S. that are here is William Regal and I think it’s important that people know that. My wrestling gear last night [TakeOver: Blackpool] was a tribute to him, so a little nod in his direction.”
The NXT UK brand is being represented this weekend in Phoenix as Mark Andrews, Tyler Bate, Travis Banks, Jordan Devlin and Zack Gibson are competing in the ‘Worlds Collide’ tournament at AXXESS and that tournament will be available to watch on the WWE Network on February 2nd.
