‘Over The Top Wrestling’ Owner Joe Carberry Goes Over The Accommodations That He Provides To Wrestlers, Talks WWE Being A PG Product And More
'Over The Top Wrestling' is an Irish wrestling promotion, based out of Dublin, Ireland. The owner of O.T.T., Joe Carberry, looks to make his promotion the biggest in Ireland, although it has only been up and running since 2014.
Joe Carberry recently spoke with TheJournal.ie regarding the next steps for 'Over The Top Wrestling'. O.T.T. is known for their "no-PG" motto and Carberry discusses his understanding of why the WWE is a PG product, but has his reasons as to why it can take away from the content. Carberry established the promotion in 2014 and states that it is a priority to give fans what they enjoy.
"We came in with the aim of putting on shows of a high standard and it was the case that there was a lot of wrestling fans looking for a product that wasn’t WWE. It’s become more focused on a younger fan-base and we wanted to create something for that older fan-base to enjoy.”
In the video above, from O.T.T.'s YouTube page, the title relates to their "no-PG" mindset. Carberry would go on to comment on WWE's transition to a primarily PG product. "I understand why WWE has to be PG now. They have a lot of heavy-rolling advertisers. We’re not confined by that and can make a product the fans really enjoy.”
Carberry, who is a former in-ring performer in his own right, shares a few words to fellow owners about the accommodations that need to be provided to wrestlers who come and perform for them. The likes of Zack Sabre Jr., Dalton Castle & Drew McIntyre just to name a few; have all been a part of Over The Top Wrestling.
"We have a good relationship with the top performers around the world. We’re now able to get guys a little easier now. People know it’s a good place to wrestle. I was a wrestler myself and I know the difference it makes to have a decent hotel bed to sleep on that night for example. We’ve always done that here.”
'Over The Top Wrestling' has their "Homecoming" event today which will feature their World Champion, U.K. Championship Tournament competitor Jordan Devlin, along with the current WWE United Kingdom Champion, Pete Dunne.
