Over The Top Wrestling Owner Joe Cabray: “There’s Not Much Money In Irish Wrestling”
Over The Top Wrestling Owner Joe Cabray pulls no punches when discussing the current state of Irish wrestling.
Speaking to Ben Givan of GG Media, Cabray discussed the growth of wrestling in Ireland over the years. Cabray was proud of how far the scene has come in a short amount of time, pointing to Finn Balor, Becky Lynch, and Sheamus as three stars who are now featured performers on WWE television.
“We’re such a small little island and we’ve produced some of the best talent,” said Cabray. “Realistically, wrestling has only been around here for 15 years. It started with Fergal (Devitt) and Paul (Tracey) traveling off to England and learning the trade over there from Andre Baker. Dunkan Disorderly went over and he also trained there, came back and started teaching guys up north.”
Cabray continued, “There’s not much money in Irish wrestling. It’s more doing it for the scene and people with a passion who want to see the scene grow, which is kind of nice.”
OTT was founded in 2014 and has featured stars such as WALTER, Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate, Jordan Devlin, and more in their short history. PAC (fka Neville) will be making his OTT debut in the near future. Sheamus recently praised Cabray for the job he’s done with OTT and stated that he would like to make an appearance at some point.
