NXT Viewership Rises On Christmas With No AEW Competition
Despite being on Christmas, NXT viewership was up this week. The Dec. 25 episode pulled 831,000 viewers, up from the 795,000 viewers the show drew on Dec. 18.
The Christmas episode of NXT ran unopposed as AEW Dynamite took the week off due to the holiday. A Christmas Story 24-hour marathon aired on TNT with a simulcast on TBS. NXT was a taped episode, with matches being recorded on Dec. 18 at Full Sail before NXT and Dec. 20 at Barclays Center following WWE SmackDown.
NXT pulled a 0.22 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic, down from last weeks 0.27 rating in the same demographic. The show finished 29th among the top 150 cable originals according to ShowBuzzDaily.
The NBA game between the Toronto Raptors and Boston Celtics on ESPN topped Christmas day on cable, pulling 3.3 million viewers and a 1.16 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic.

AEW Dynamite will return on Jan. 1 with a live show from Jacksonville, FL. NXT will air a Year-End Awards special and announce the teams for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic 2020.
