On the October 8th episode of NXT, Tony D’Angelo defeated Oba Femi to win the NXT North American Championship, and Femi will challenge for the title at NXT Halloween Havoc. The two foes are set to clash in a Tables, Ladders, and Scares Match.

On the October 22nd episode of WWE NXT, Femi took out Luca Crusifino with a beatdown, while Adriana Rizzo was found attacked backstage. NXT General Manager Ava then took to Twitter/X to reveal that D’Angelo requested for the title match to be decided by pinfall, with tables, ladders, and chairs legal to use as weapons, and she granted the request.
