NXT Curtain Call: Finn Balor Puts Over Matt Bloom, Says It Was “A Struggle” Before He Showed Up (Video)
Finn Balor, Mojo Rawley, Carmella, and Nia Jax are done with NXT, but they had a little fun on their way out.
Despite being drafted two weeks ago, several of the NXT stars finished up their advertised dates during a Texas house show loop with the brand this weekend. Several of the talents were bid farewell by their colleagues Saturday night in Houston. Former WWE NXT Women’s Champion Bayley joined Shinsuke Nakamura and Finn Balor and spoke about Balor’s importance to NXT.
“You have done something huge for NXT,” Bayley told Balor. “We were already taking over the business and you took it to a whole new level. I’m not just talking about the great matches with Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura, I’m talking about fans in Chicago waiting in the cold… and you went out and greeted all of them.”
Bayley also brought out longtime NXT talent Mojo Rawley, former rival Nia Jax, and best friend Carmella to join the fun.
“Everyone has been chanting ‘Thank you, Finn,’ but you don’t have to thank me,” Balor said. “You should thank these lads. Bayley says I took this to a new level, but I didn’t. We all took this to a new level. The Revival took this to a new level, American Alpha took this to a new level. Samoa Joe, Carmella, Nakamura, Nia Jax, Blake, Murphy, Mojo Rawley did.”
Balor also spoke about the importance of a great culture at the WWE Performance Center.
You know who’s done more to take it to a new level? A man who goes by many names — A-Train, Hip Hop Hippo, Giant Bernard, Tensai — but we know him as Matt Bloom. He, from the day he came in to the Performance Center, changed the way we treated NXT from the inside. Before Matt Bloom came here, it was a struggle, and now every day we walk into the Performance Center with a smile thanks to that man,” said Balor, speaking in regards to Bill Demott.
Balor closed by saying “we are NXT,” as the six in the ring embraced.
