NXT Championship Changes Hands At NXT New Year’s Evil 2022
A new NXT Champion has been crowned.
At NXT New Year’s Evil, Tommaso Ciampa put his NXT Championship on the line against Bron Breakker. This was Bron’s second shot at the belt, previously losing to Ciampa at Halloween Havoc in what was only his fourth match.
Though he never wavered in his pursuit of the NXT Championship, Breakker was inserted back into the title picture after pinning Ciampa at WarGames. Not only that, but Bron picked up a number of impressive wins following Halloween Havoc, including one over the Cruiserweight Champion Roderick Strong.
The match at New Year’s Evil saw a number of near falls, including Bron kicking out of Ciampa’s Fairytale Ending. From there, Breakker was able to regain control of the bout and lock Ciampa into his Recliner submission, forcing the champion to tap out. With that, Bron Breakker is the new NXT Champion.
