NJPW World Tag League Results (11/17/18): First Day Of Tournament Action Begins

The first night of action for World Tag League.

The first day of action for New Japan Pro Wrestling’s yearly World Tag League tournament has wrapped up. The tournament consists of multiple teams battling it out in round-robin action with the winners earning the right to challenge for the IWGP Tag Team Championships at the forthcoming Wrestle Kingdom. Teams competing in this year’s tournament are duos such as ‘Fin Juice’ (David Finlay & Juice Robinson), Chuckie T and Beretta and former 3-time IWGP Tag Team Champions Killer Elite Squad. The show took place at the ‘Chichibunomiya Memorial Gymnasium’ in Kanagawa, Japan and here’s what went down in “The Land Of The Rising Sun” on November 17th:


1) Jeff Cobb & Michael Elgin def. Yota Tsuji & Yuya Uemura

2) Zack Sabre Jr. & Taichi def. Tomoaki Honma & Ren Narita

3) Minoru Suzuki, Takashi Iizuka & El Desperado def. Killer Elite Squad & Yoshinobu Kanemaru

4) World Tag League Tournament Match – David Finlay & Juice Robinson def. Shota Umino & Ayato Yoshida

5) World Tag League Tournament Match – Yuji Nagata & Manabu Nakanishi defeated Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima

6) World Tag League Tournament Match – Chuckie T & Beretta def. Adam “Hangman” Page & Yujiro Takahashi

7) Tetsuya Naito, SANADA, EVIL, BUSHI & Shingo Takagi def. Kazuchika Okada, Tomohiro Ishii, Toru Yano & Roppongi 3K

On a related note, New Japan recently wrapped up their Super Junior Tag Tournament which ultimately ended up with two teams moving on to Wrestle Kingdom 13 to challenge for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships.
