NJPW Road To Power Struggle Results (11/1): Suzuki-Gun & Roppongi 3K In Super Jr. Tag League Finals

The final day of the Road to Power Struggle tour promised to bring chaos onto the Super Jr. Tag League standings and it delivered.

With as many scenarios that could have played as there were teams in the tournament, the one scenario that was perhaps the least likely to happen did occur. Once the dust settled, it was SHO & YOH and Yoshinobu Kanemaru & El Desperado who will face each other in the tournament finals again.

The scenario that resulted in this happening was the aforementioned teams picking up wins against the teams of Taiji Ishimori and El Phantasmo and Robbie Eagles & Will Ospreay, respectively. Any other result or a win for Ishimori and El Phantasmo, the duo with perhaps the best odds of advancing to the finals heading into November 1, would have resulted in them finishing in the top two.

But now, NJPW will see a rematch from two-thirds of the 2018 finals on November 3. In last year’s tournament finals, SHO & YOH defeated Kanemaru & El Phantasmo and BUSHI & Shingo Takagi to become the only multi-time Super Jr. Tag League tournament winners in history.
