NJPW KOPW 2022 Provisional Trophy Changes Hands At 4/25 NJPW Golden Fight Series
Shingo Takagi holds the trophy.
At NJPW Golden Fight Series on April 25, Shingo Takagi topped Taichi to capture the 2022 King of Pro Wrestling Provisional Trophy. The contest took place under 30-count rules, which was the stipulation picked by Taichi that won the fan vote.
Per the rules, “A cumulative count will apply to both wrestlers in the match, and whoever can pin the other for a combined total of 30 will walk away with the trophy.”
The bout lasted over 26 minutes and came down to the final count as Shingo won 30-29.

This marks Shingo’s first reign with the KOPW Provisional Trophy. The person who holds the trophy at the end of the year is officially declared the King of Pro Wrestling.
The KOPW trophy is defended in stipulation matches where each competitor picks their stipulation and the fans vote between the choices.
