Nikki Cross Cites Jack Nicholson In ‘The Shining’ As One Of The Inspirations For Character

Nikki Cross hopes to be a shining example of what a wildcard can bring to WWE.

Nikki Cross is wild. In her early days in WWE, she rose to stardom as a member of SAnitY. Nikki’s unpredictability has kept her a part of the conversation in WWE for several years and part of historic matches such as WarGames and Money in the Bank.

During a recent interview with Fightful’s Joel Pearl before the WWE Elimination Chamber, even Nikki Cross revealed that one of the inspirations for her character on WWE programming is Jack Nicholson’s character from The Shining.

“I don’t know if it counts, but Jack Nicholson in ‘The Shining.’ I don’t think that counts,” Cross tells Joel Pearl. “‘Here’s Nikki.’  For me, throughout history, there’s always been game-changers. There’s always been people not afraid to take a chance. There’s always been people willing to do whatever. Sometimes you read that and you’re like, ‘There’s no rhyme or reason for this. Zero.’ But I think, Nikki Cross, she’s impulsive, she’s unpredictable, she’s wild. She’s the Wild Card of WWE. So I like to think Nikki Cross, she stands out. You know what I mean? She stands out. One day in the wrestling history books, we’ll write about Nikki.”

In the past, Nikki Cross made history as WWE Raw Women’s Champion when she was Nikki ASH.

Recently, her former tag team partner, Piper Niven, told Fightful that she was happy to see Nikki portraying a more organic character. Fans can read her comments at this link.
