Nigel McGuinness & Beth Phoenix Reportedly Still Employed By WWE; Mauro Ranallo May Record From Home
While the voices of NXT may be different for now, the trio that typically provides the soundtrack to the Wednesday night broadcast is still, reportedly, employed by WWE.
According to a report by Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Nigel McGuinness and Beth Phoenix have not been laid off or furloughed by WWE and instead, are staying home due to them both having young children and not wanting to wind up in a quarantine situation for two weeks due to traveling back and forth from Florida.
Beth Phoenix husband, Edge, worked a match against Randy Orton WrestleMania which was taped two weeks prior and noted on Instagram that he was quarantined for the two weeks following, ending his quarantine on the Monday following WrestleMania.
Mauro Ranallo, whose voice did make a return for the April 8 episode which featured the final match between Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, has elected not to fly out from Southern California. It is reported that WWE is trying to work on a way for Ranallo to record commentary from his home studio.
In recent weeks, the commentary has been done for NXT by Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton. They are both also providing the commentary for Monday Night Raw.
