Nick Khan Says WWE Is Not Looking To Do One-Off Events With Fans, WrestleMania Was The Exception
WWE welcomed back fans for the first time in over a year at WrestleMania 37, allowing 25,000 fans to attend each night of the event at Raymond James Stadium.
While fans were a welcome sight for talent and the viewing audience, they won’t be the norm for WWE as the company heads back into the ThunderDome, which now resides at the Yuengling Center.
Speaking to Variety, Nick Khan commented on where WWE stands in regards to running events again in front of a live audience.
“Any plans? Yes. Any plans we can share? Stay tuned. But just know that once we’re back on the road, we’re on the road full time. We’re not looking to do other one-offs. Again, this was WrestleMania. And we felt it needed to be done for the fans. So look for news coming soon,” he said.
Speaking about fans returning for WrestleMania, Khan said, “If it could be done in a safe way, we had to get it done. And I think ultimately, thanks to the great work of all the folks here, we were able to get it done. If you recall, WrestleMania last year was two to three weeks into the pandemic. We had to cancel last minute and we did it from a studio. It was certainly a different experience. So we wanted to make sure that the fans and the people watching at home got the WWE experience that they’re used to on the biggest event that we have.”
WWE has been running in the Performance Center and then the ThunderDome since the start of the pandemic in mid-March 2020.
It is unknown when WWE will begin touring again.
