Nick Aldis Talks On-Screen Pairing With Jimmy Jacobs, Comments On His Departure From IMPACT
Nick Aldis discusses Jimmy Jacobs and his departure from IMPACT Wrestling.
Jacobs, who recently joined the creative side of things in AEW, is considered by many to be a legend of independent wrestling. Before joining AEW, Jacobs spent nearly six years with IMPACT Wrestling as a backstage producer, as well as an occasional on-air figure.
In recent weeks, Jacobs had served as a personal interviewer for Nick Aldis, who returned to the company at the Rebellion pay-per-view in April.
In a new interview with WrestleZone, Aldis commented on his partnership with Jacobs, as well as his recent departure from IMPACT Wrestling.
“I thought he was a great [addition] to my presentation, but it wasn’t something that was necessarily planned out or laid out from the beginning, it was just something that happened. It was a suggestion that I had, because it had been made clear to me that they wanted me to be presented differently. They wanted me to feel different to everyone else on the roster, and with good reason. So I said, ‘Well, you know, maybe I should have somebody else doing my interviews’ and because it was a sort of spur of moment thing, Jimmy was standing right there. Jimmy’s a very talented performer and looks good on camera and it just worked out well. I’m pleased for Jimmy and I think he deserves the opportunity that he just got. We were both talking about how it’s a bittersweet situation, because we were enjoying what we were doing and we were actually thinking about expanding on it even further. Obviously, this business, this is nothing new to me. These things happen. I might have some ideas and suggestions, particularly for Slammiversary, for the special occasion. It might be cool to bust out somebody, but beyond that, I haven’t really thought about it much. I’ll probably think about it as we head into Atlanta this weekend.”
In a recent separate interview, Aldis commented on Mickie James and her current status. Fans can learn more here.
