Nick Aldis Explains Why Jeff Jarrett Accompanied Him To The Ring At ‘All In’ After Their Falling Out
Nick Aldis breaks it down.
This past Saturday at the Young Bucks and Cody’s self-financed show ‘All In’, one of the marquee matches of the night that everyone had their eyes glued to was the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship match between Cody and Nick Aldis. As both men made their way to the ring, they were accompanied by their respective entourage of individuals who have established their names in the sport of pro wrestling and/or are very close to either Aldis or Rhodes.
Cody was walked to the ring by his dog Pharaoh, WWE Hall Of Famer Diamond Dallas Page, Tommy Dreamer and others. Aldis was accompanied by the likes of former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Tim Storm and former 6-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett. Aldis ultimately lost the title to Cody but the other story coming out of the match was Aldis being walked to the ring by “Double J”. It is well known that the two men had a falling out when Aldis was a part of Jarrett’s Global Force Wrestling. In the summer of 2017, Jeff Jarrett was looking for a certain percentage of money from his talents that they earned from working the independent circuit while still being contracted to GFW which led to Magnus eventually dropping the GFW World Title and departing from the company.
Aldis released a statement on Twitter today acknowledging his falling out with Jeff Jarrett but added that he believes in second chances which is why Jarrett was selected to accompany him to the ring at ‘All In’. Aldis even revealed that The Young Bucks and Cody paid Jarrett for his appearance to show that everything that went down between all parties involved is water under the bridge.
“When we discussed the concept of having teams lead us to the ring for the biggest match of our career, the conversation inevitably turned to whom the team members would be; friends, colleagues, mentors, and put simply, people who have been important figures in our respective tapestries. Jeff is without a doubt one of those people to me.
What you may not know is that I, like several others, had my own fall out with Jeff & Karen a couple of years ago. I could have written them off and enjoyed taking the moment in the spotlight as an F-U to them, and anyone else that has wronged me over the years. But that’s bad energy, and I made a choice to focus on good energy in the last year, which is absolutely led me to that moment at ALL IN. I should point out that despite their initial hesitation, Cody, Matt, and Nick also agreed to accommodate Jeff for this match as a symbolic gesture that we don’t dwell on negativity and we don’t hang people out to dry forever just because they made a mistake or two. Three thumbs up. Thank you guys.
This was about giving a second chance to the man who gave me my first chance to be a champion. Thank you Jeff.”
Other than the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship match, there were ten other bouts that took place at ‘All In’ and to read about how those matches concluded, head over to Fightful’s ‘All In’ results article.
